Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) renewed its partnership with Union des Associations Europeennes de Football (UEFA) to become Official Partner of UEFA EURO 2004TM in the automotive category.
The announcement was made on March 4th, 2003 at the UEFA House in Nyon, Switzerland by HMC President & CEO Dong-Jin Kim and UEFA CEO Gerhard Aigner.
With this agreement, HMC, which also sponsored EURO 2000TM, will be again a partner for the most prestigious football tournament in Europe.
As the Official Automotive Partner of UEFA EURO 2004TM, HMC will provide official cars under the Hyundai brand to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of transportation and logistics.
The fleet of official cars and buses will be mainly used by the teams, referees, media representatives, UEFA delegations and by the members of EURO 2004 SA - a joint venture that was set up for the organization of the competition.
Hyundai has already demonstrated itself to be a reliable and effective partner during the UEFA European Football Championship EURO 2000TM, and the 2002 FIFA World CupTM. "It is an extraordinary privilege for Hyundai Motor to strengthen its partnership with UEFA by sponsoring EURO 2004TM. I am very pleased and proud that we are supporting this sport event - one of the most popular in the world", commented HMC President & CEO Dong-Jin Kim. "Football nowadays is a universally understood language and a powerful unifying force that can pull people of all nationalities, races and creeds together. This coincides with Hyundai's values and vision," emphasized Kim. HMC is one of the strongest supporters of football in the corporate world.
By sponsoring EURO 2000TM, the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea / JapanTM and other national and international football tournaments, HMC has not only infused a new sense of fun and excitement into the game, but it has also achieved a significant increases in brand awareness and improvements in the brand image.
By recently renewing its partnership for UEFA EURO 2004TM and the 2006 FIFA World Cup GermanyTM, HMC has secured a firm foundation that will enable it to push its sports marketing strategy forward for the next four years to gain a better foothold in the European market.
